Dipstick urine

Repeat biochemistry within 48 hours if new result and no referral made

Monitoring

Normally carried out via secondary care

Treatment

Treat underlying condition

Modify lifestyle

Treat hypertension

Assess and treat other complications

Educate patient

Referral guidelines

Urgent referral to nephrology service unless clinically inappropriate
